190 Strand

The site is next to Christopher Wren’s St Clements Dane Church and The Royal Courts of Justice. The form is a series of 6 urban blocks arranged around two courtyards in an S-shape. The proposal removed a street that divided the site but widened and enhanced the adjacent (historic) Tweezers Alley. Ground and 4 basement levels contain retail, leisure business uses while above are 206 apartments. The buildings are of stone to the principle streets, and brick to the narrower secondary lanes, topped by a filigree, vaulted mansard roof.
