33 Bowling Green Lane, EC1R

Built in 1935 as a printing works, the existing building was constructed in two parts connected along the south façade. The key move in this refurbishment was to enclose the existing courtyard and bridge across the north façade with a bespoke lighting installation.

Ben Adams Architects worked with a local lighting company and laboratory flask manufacturer to develop this lighting installation as a unique feature. Fibre optic cables illuminate the bulbs, eliminating the need for regular maintenance. The bulbs twinkle and pulse gently in the space, delighting building occupants.
