75-78 Wimpole Street

These buildings, treated as two pairs, have been refurbished and modernized with links through party walls respecting the original rooms, by replacing the poor Edwardian building occupying No. 77 providing the vertical circulation and core facilities to serve the linked buildings.

The new facade of 77 is developed following studies of the proportions/rhythms of 71‐79 Wimpole Street, and is a contemporary interpretation of bay windows, balconies and dormers. 75/76, a Grade II listed matching pair c.1897, have been extended at the rear at floor level, with light wells enclosed with roof lights to fully utilise natural light. Extensions are contemporary in form and detailing.
No. 78, also Grade II listed, has been linked to 77 to enable new office spaces, wrapping around a courtyard, to the rear.
