Abbey Wood Crossrail Station + Urban Realm
Located on the boundary between Greenwich and Bexley, Abbey Wood will act as the south-eastern terminus of Crossrail. The enlarged station will facilitate better bus and rail interchange, and also act as an ‘urban bridge’ to provide a direct and accessible pedestrian link to the local area. The project aims to mend the fragmented urban environment caused primarily by two pieces of transport infrastructure that dominate the local environment - the railway line and the Harrow Manor Way flyover. The urban realm has been designed to allow activity to spill out and help animate the street, further aided by the introduction of trees, seating and enlarged and resurfaced footways.
