Emergency Care Pathway, St Thomas’ Hospital

The vision was to create an efficient people-focused emergency care facility by streamlining patient flows to provide integrated care pathways.

The project involved the major remodelling and reconfiguration of the existing buildings, including small new build elements to the Emergency Department entrance and staff support facilities, to co-locate emergency care services from across the hospital. The facilities provided include 78 acute assessment beds, children’s emergency services and short-stay unit, a centralised urgent care centre and significantly expanded resus and majors departments.
