Peabody Avenue, Pimlico

This designated Conservation Area, a distinctive Victorian estate with its two long opposing rows, has been redeveloped to address the disjointed design left by WWII damage, providing 56 new homes of mixed tenure, new community facilities including a community hall and City Guardians office, and landscape improvements to the whole estate. The design was produced in collaboration with local residents, Westminster City Council and English Heritage, and all new homes feature super-insulation, energy efficient ventilation, water-saving appliances, and double and triple-glazing. Utilising three types of brick, the new buildings work in harmony with the original 19th century material, whilst vibrant green spaces incorporate trees, planting and bird boxes to add colour and biodiversity to the estate alongside play areas.
