Royal Road

Part of the Elephant & Castle Regeneration Early Housing Sites, this project was led by the desire to retain the healthy, mature trees surrounding the site, leading to a cruciform plan which steps away from the boundary and surrounds a communal courtyard. As a result of the layout, 60 per cent of the homes are triple aspect and all remaining homes are dual aspect. Varying from four to nine storeys in response to the surrounding buildings, it provides 96 affordable homes, all of which exceed minimum space standards.
