The Royal London Hospital

The new 727-bed Royal London Hospital is the city’s leading trauma and emergency care centre. It is the home of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) air ambulance, which operates from a special area on the roof, as well as Europe’s largest renal service. A dedicated unit for women and children features London’s second-largest paediatric service. The design is sympathetic to the hospital’s retained historic buildings, including the landmark facade on the original Grade II-listed London Hospital on Whitechapel Road.
