The Terrace Restaurant, ZSL London Zoo

To accommodate the Zoo’s huge visitor numbers, the 1960s extension on the main restaurant has been replaced with a new, 6m-high, tiered glass front extension with an expanded mezzanine level, new mezzanine terrace deck and smaller first floor terrace, plus a rear extension for increased food storage. The remodelling revealed three arched windows from the original 1920s building, previously hidden from view. The clean, raw and urban scheme features structure and finishes in glass, timber, brick and steel, along with a striking galvanised deck ceiling and 35m wide skylight.
