The Yard, University of Roehampton

The project replaces an old trades yard and surrounding workshops at the heart of the campus with a new public space linking Froebel and Digby Stuart Colleges, which were once separated by a boundary wall. The scheme creates a single, brick-lined space to unify the old and the new. Making use of the building’s remains and ground conditions revealed by the demolition of the workshops, the design harnesses the site’s eccentricities to reduce environmental waste.
