WoodBlock House

Designed as a studio-house for renowned UK artist Richard Woods and his family, the scheme takes the form of simple blocks superimposed, providing for two distinct uses: studio/office and family home. Everything used in the construction, from the structure to the cladding and even the wood fibre insulation, is timber-based. The name WoodBlock also refers to the artists’ printing technique, in which the building is partly clad. Stairs running up one entire side of the building allow the user to appreciate the house’s surrounding context.
